CHORUS & COMPRIMARIO AUDITIONS
FOR 2018-19 SEASON

Michigan Opera Theatre announces chorus & comprimario role* auditions for its 2018-19 season. Auditions will be held at the Detroit Opera House, 1526 Broadway, Detroit, MI 48226 on:

Friday April 13: chorus & comprimario* 3:00-8:00p

Monday May 14: chorus only 3:00-8:00p

Thursday May 17: chorus only 3:00-8:00p

The Michigan Opera Theatre Chorus is a professional group of diverse men and women of all professions and backgrounds.  Choristers rehearse weekday evenings and weekends for each production period.  For more information about Michigan Opera Theatre Chorus, click here.

The 2018-19 season productions in which the chorus may participate are:

Eugene Onegin –Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

The Barber of Seville – Gioachino Rossini

Candide – Leonard Bernstein

Hänsel & Gretel – Engelbert Humperdinck

The Grapes of Wrath – Ricky Ian Gordon

CHORUS AUDITIONS
Must include two arias. One in English and one in a foreign language. Music must be memorized. Operatic repertoire is preferred, but standard oratorio selections will be accepted.  Sight reading may be requested. Singers are required to bring their own music in the correct key.  MOT will provide an accompanist.

COMPRIMARIO AUDITIONS, April 13 only
Must include two arias.  One in English and one in a foreign language. Music must be memorized. Singers who wish to be considered for an audition should send resume & photo to Michigan Opera Theatre at production@motopera.org.

Please include CHORUS AUDITION or CHORUS/COMPRIMARIO in the subject line along with date preference.

Comprimario role audition will also serve as a chorus audition and will ONLY be heard on April 13th.  Comprimario roles are only available for GRAPES OF WRATH.
