Ages 12 and up, Height 5’8″ and under

Girls & Boys currently taking ballet classes with at least 2 years previous ballet training
Ages 8-12, Height 4’9″-5’6″

 7:00 – 8:00

Girls & Boys currently taking ballet classes with at least 2 years previous ballet training
Ages 8-12, Height under 4’9″

Audition Attire


Dark leotard, pink tights and ballet slippers, hair pulled back in a bun


White T-Shirt, dark tights, ballet slippers

Call Backs
All dancers called back need to return at 8:15 p.m.

If needed, dancers should be prepared to stay for more than one audition
All dancers must be age eight (8) by October 3, 2015 in order to audition

First Rehearsals (MANDATORY) at the Detroit Opera House:
Saturday, Sept. 19 Between 10:00am – 5:00pm
Sunday, Sept. 20 Between 10:00am – 5:00pm
More specific times for each role/each day will be handed out at the audition

All following rehearsals will take place on Saturdays and/or Sundays at the Detroit Opera House.

The Sleeping Beauty Extras Needed

American Ballet Theatre and Michigan Opera Theatre  are casting child and adult dancers & actors for Alexei Ratmansky’s  The Sleeping Beauty. Your child could be gracing our stage alongside American Ballet Theatre in Alexei Ratmansky’s The Sleeping Beauty this March! Don’t let your dancers (or yourself) miss this opportunity.

You must be available for all rehearsals and performances. Please email with the interested person’s name, height, age and a brief outline of their experience.

Please note ages are approximate, but height will be the main factor. We do not have a rehearsal schedule, nor specific roles at this time.

Ballet Detroit

Modeled after the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia, Ballet Detroit is dedicated to providing a professional environment and world-class training for aspiring ballet dancers. Artistic Director Sergey Rayevskiy will be holding auditions for ballet students age 6-19 at the Detroit Opera House, on August 16, 2015. Select students will be admitted to the 2015-2016 Program on a competitive basis.
