Spectacular Christopher McMullen-Laird - Leipzig, Germany I returned home from the spectacular Butterfly performance this evening with the soaring melodies running through my head. I brought a friend who had never been to the Detroit Opera House with me to see and hear what I dare to call the best first opera production imaginable. Keep up the fine work and congrats to you, David, and your team! I love the Opera House Margaret Johnson - Center Line Madame Butterfly was a wonderful re-introduction to Opera. I love the Opera House. Previously, when I have gone to opera performances, they have been at huge places in Europe and I was so far up I needed binoculars to really be able to see the performers. This beautiful setting is intimate and permits a wonderful view and experience from every seat. I also very much appreciate having the translations shown. Loved the performance -- thank you all! Operas are blessings Eunice - Prudenville We have to travel a long way to see the Operas. Each and every one is so different and each one never ceases to amaze me. It is a wonderful evening from beginning to end. Madame Butterfly and all the Operas that I have been Blessed to see will forever live in my heart. The saying "Every happy memory makes happpiness happen again" comes into play time and time again. Congratulations to all who had anything to do with the beautiful and romantic production of Madame Butterfly. Bravo, Brava, Bravi Plette a wonderful Butterfly Adel - Walled Lake I attended Friday's show (Nov. 21) and I was very impressed. Miss Plette made a wonderful Madame Butterfly. It was a highly enjoyable experience. Everything including singers, orchestra, and scenery was wonderful. I'd love to see Tosca, Aida, La Boheme, Rigoletto or other amazing operas performed at the Detroit Opera House. Keep up the good work!!! Pomeroy and Plette magnificent K. Smith - Canton I think Friday's performance of Madame Butterfly was the best I've seen. I kept saying wow, wow. The set was appealing and the singers Pomeroy and Plette were magnificent. Please let them know. Thank you Music, sets wonderful; geisha not young enough Mary Ann - Detroit The music and set were wonderful. The voices - magnificient, but I had a very difficult time watching a Plette who appears to be in her late 30's to early 40's and not resembling a Geisha play the part of 15 - 22 year old. I know you won't post this, I just wanted to voice my displeasure with this. My very first opera Pam - Hazel Park I attended Madame Butterfly last evening and was absolutely enthralled. It was my very first opera (I'm 54) and I had a wonderful experience. The performers had beautiful voices, the sets and costumes were gorgeous and the orchestra was lovely. I was moved to tears several times by Puccini's music and the sense of longing and loss experienced by Butterfly. Through this wonderful adaptation I've come to realize that opera is the perfect expression of human emotion through music. Thank you, MOT, and Bravo! Kudos for Sorrow Connie - Birmingham Wow! It all came together beautifully. Does anyone know anything about the child? How old is the young actor? Is he on for all performances? Must see Mariana Leoveanu - Sterling Heights, MI Absolutely magnificent and very emotional...you must see! Finest ever Dean Bedford, Jr. - Metamora, MI Both my wife and I agree that last night's (15 Nov., 2008) performance of Madame Butterfly was the finest we had ever attended. The singing, set, costumes and direction were all superb. BRAVO!
