About this production

Simone – Detroit

Beautiful. This was performance was more than I expected. It was refreshing to see the male dances performance. I am looking forward to their return.

D. Levitsky – West Bloomfield

I thought that they were fantastic. However, the sound system on Saturday evening was terrible. A group as talented as they are should not have to dance to such poor quality sound.

AJ – Fraser

The dancers were awesome. The sound system was horrible. Only 1 speaker working and the music was crackling. Total disservice to the performers.

Shannon – Ferndale

It was a wonderful program. Such beauty, and the mix of different musical genres was appreciated. The intermissions were rather long considering the length of the show.

Michael – Commerce

Stunning program.  Especially the part on slavery.  Can’t thank them enough.

Uma – Toledo

Was an amazing show. Loved it. The talent was out of this world. The performers were top notch. BIG FAN

Dave

Excellent

CorinneO – Bingham Farms

We loved seeing this company again especially since they ave now grown to 16 dancers. We enjoyed the last piece the best called Harlem…
Thanks to MOT for continuing to bring world class dance companies to Detroit.

Yolanda – Westland

I loved it & enjoyed it so much . My favorite the bitter earth brought me to tears . The couple dancing , their costumes, & the beautiful voice of Dinah Washington singing was so touching . Especially her words

Charles Otis – Birmingham

I enjoyed the performance thoroughly. I felt the second half was the high point of the show. It was imaginative and well performed. The dancers were very good.
The only drawback is as the sound system as you faced the stage the right hand speakers had a distinct flaw. This needs to be fixed.

A’Lyse – Detroit

I went to see the Dance Theatre of Harlem on Sunday March 25, 3018 at the Detroit Opera House. The Dance Talk started promptly at 1:00pm. The audience was also allowed to ask questions. The show started at 2:30 promptly. I loved the dancers and the back drops. The show had about 6 pieces in total which were short and long. Overall I could feel the passion from my seat and some of the pieces made me cry.
I would highly recommend this show to a friend or family member.

Sue – Livonia

Have seen this troupe before and they have always been amazing. This program was more serious than previous performances. I so enjoyed the male dancers being showcased just as much as the females. Such talent from them. Sound was definitely off but it almost gave me an old vinyl vibe. They made it work and that’s what matters.

LaVonne – Detroit

This was my first time seeing the Dance Theatre of Harlem and I was favorably impressed. Thanks to the Lear Corporation, Spelman College and all whp made this performance possible.

Diana – Birmingham

My daughter was amazed by the dancers beautiful technique, and I was captivated by their performance. Their connection to the audience was nothing I’ve experienced before! It inspired so many emotions in me!

Will – West Bloomfield

Good performers. Would have liked to see more afro-centric themes.

Charlie Owens – Detroit

I enjoyed it very much, however I thought that the last two parts were much stronger. It a very good show.

Christopher – Detroit

Would I see this again … yes. But, for a person with dancing experience, this performance was adequate at best. As for the sound system, we should have gotten our money back. I expected better from this extraordinary dance company. That being said, I will see them during their next visit! Perhaps I am being extra critical due to the distraction of the deplorable sound system.

Russian ballet lover – macomb

American ballet is a joke. Saturday’s performance was accompanied also with terrible sound of speakers. Americans like it because they haven’t seen any better. I have. I will stick with Fantom of the Opera. Americans can sing.
