DAVID DICHIERA RECEIVES AMERICAN OPERA’S HIGHEST HONOR

We are pleased to announce that Dr. David DiChiera was selected as one of the recipients of the 2010 National Endowment for the Arts’ Opera Honors. Each year, four noted individuals from the American opera world are recognized for their lifetime contributions to the art form. DiChiera was chosen along with Martina Arroyo, Eve Queler, and Philip Glass. This is the highest award our country gives in opera.

This was formally announced this morning, Friday, June 25th at the National Council of the Arts meeting. A presentation of the award will take place on October 22, 2010 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. More information, including a video tribute, will be available on the NEA Opera Honors website, www.neaoperahonors.org.
